Mission
I aspire to love the world skillfully, and to help others learn to do the same through therapy that is rooted in the earth, honest about grief, and grounded in the slow wisdom of authentic relationships.
I want to be off the computer and back into the world. If you feel that way too, you're in the right place.
About
Nomi
I have wanted to love the world since the late 90s when I chose my first email address: toluvtheworld. I didn't know then that loving the world is a practice and a skill, really one that takes patience, courage, grief, and a willingness to stay in relationship with what is alive around you and within you.
I've spent the years since learning how to do exactly that. I am still learning, and I picked this vocation because of my interest in the art of living. As a therapist, a student of nature, and a person still very much in the middle of my own becoming, I've come to believe that the most radical thing we can do is learn to love the world skillfully and that this begins with learning to love ourselves back into belonging.
I became a therapist because I am, at heart, a relational person. I spent my early career working in healthcare (emergency rooms, Surgical, Infusion, and Cancer Centers). I am no stranger to grief. I believe we are wired for connection and beauty—not just with each other, but to the more-than-human world. The trees, the seasons, the soil beneath our feet: these are not a backdrop. They are kin. My work is grounded in that conviction. In addition to my clinical training, I have studied intuitive, contemplative, and earth-based practices that inform how I show up in the therapy relationship.
I practice around Pepin, Wisconsin and the Twin Cities, Minnesota (and throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin through telehealth), and I am actively working to bring more of my sessions outdoors. I'm on my own mission of rewilding (homesteading, learning ancestral skills, and deepening my relationship with the land I live on). This isn't separate from my work as a therapist. It is my meaningful work. I aim for a coherent life, mostly outdoors. The more I come home to the earth, the better I can help others do the same.

Vision
Healing isn't something that happens to you.
It happens in relationship with other people, with the living earth, and with the deeper currents of your own life. I see a world where we live in such a way where "healing" isn't the goal it is a natural byproduct of a way of living authentically to you.
